Fully Surrendered

My Jesus Story is accurately described in Luke 17:33 which challenged me to make a decision that if I clung to my life, I would lose it and if I let my life go, it would be saved. I accepted Jesus into my life when I was 16 years old and I walked with Him half- heartedly through the rest of my teenage years and into my adult life. I was involved in the ministry of dance in my local church in Jamaica for many years, but it wasn’t until April 2012 that I fully surrendered my life and all of my accomplishments to Him. From that moment, my life, as I knew it, went through significant changes, the most notable of which was getting married and moving to North Carolina in 2013.

From the moment that I surrendered completely, the Lord took me on a journey with Him. Over the years, He has taught me how to depend on Him for everything, which is the only place that true freedom can be found and He also purposefully placed me within Sherry Braswell Ministries where He cultivated deep and enduring friendships. He gave me community, a place where I can live my faith out, free from condemnation and I do not have to “do good works” in order to gain acceptance.

Jesus exchanged the life that I thought would give me acceptance and happiness and gave me His life instead.
