21 Days of Praise and Fellowship

Good Morning Sisters,

Why do we have to go through tough times? That is a question that I think we all ask. Elaine’s message last night was nourishment for our souls. She talked about the valleys of life and how the word “valley” had always held a special meaning for her as she was born in Simi Valley, California and lived there until she was 11 years old. At one point the wildfires threatened to destroy the valley. Her family chose not to evacuate and stay in their home. It was a very scary time as she could see the fields burning behind her house. Her house was saved.  Remembering God’s faithfulness during that time gives her hope for today, knowing that the same God that protected her from that fire is the same God that will bring her through today.

We must walk through the valley to get to higher ground.

Psalm 23:4  says “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for you are with me.” Notice it says “through”. It’s only by going “through” that we can help others. Our Shepherd is with us and is guiding us through those deep and treacherous valleys. Those valleys are also where you find the most refreshing waters. You can’t find that water on the mountain top. That clear, crystal water can only be found deep down in the crevices of the valley. This is the water that sustains our souls and leads us to higher ground. It’s also in those valleys that we find all that green grass...the best sustenance.

Isaiah 40:11 says “As a shepherd carries a lamb I have carried you close to my heart.”

This time we have been given is an INTIMATE time to be with God and with others. It is a time of refreshing, a time to recalibrate and renew. We are the sheep and He is the Shepherd. He is guiding us to higher ground. He is protecting us, holding us close. He is taking us to refreshing waters. He is restoring our souls.

Today is Day 1 of our  21 Days of Praise and Fellowship. I am leading.
