Good Morning Sisters,
“Make room for the new. God can’t put new wine into old wine skin.” Michele’s message was spot on last night! God wants us to use this time of isolation to get our houses in order...not just our physical houses but our spiritual houses. We need to get ourselves ready for the return of our King. His return is imminent and He wants us to be ready.
The Lord has created us for a time such as this. In Ester 4:14 God positioned Ester in the palace to deliver His people. He is now positioning us. The Bible says in Exodus 34:14 “For thou shalt worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” Our God is a jealous God and doesn’t want us to have any other gods before Him. He is to become before our jobs, our success, our entertainment, our families...HE Is to have FIRST place in our lives. What are the idols in your life?
In July, 2018 God told Michele to clean out her attic. She got rid of so many boxes of stuff that was cluttering her house and her mind.. When she was feeling lonely or sad she would shop. She was trying to fill a void that only Christ can fill. She said it felt GREAT to purge all of that stuff. She gave it all away. The Lord told her that she was spending too much time on her stuff, rather than building a relationship with Him and others. She encouraged us all to clean out the clutter in our houses.
May we use this time to purge, to search our hearts and get rid of whatever is not aligning with His Word. We must prepare for the NEW! The new things that God is doing won’t hold in old vessels. We can’t take our old thinking into the new era! We must clean out the clutter in our minds. It is a pit painful to declutter but is necessary to go deeper with Him.
Michele reminded us of the story of the ten virgins. In this Jesus warns us to be spiritually prepared. He compares the Christian life with five wise virgins and five foolish virgins, and their preparations before going out to meet the bridegroom. “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.” Matthew 25:14
All of the virgins went out to meet the bridegroom. They had said goodbye to the world in order to seek the things that are above, where Jesus is (Colossians 2:1-2). They all took their lamps with them. There was only one difference between them: the wise virgins took oil in their vessels together with their lamps; the foolish virgins did not realize that they had to take oil in their vessels. The foolish virgins had to go out to find oil and because of this they missed the bridegroom. We must be like those wise virgins and prepare ourselves for the return of Christ.
This time of isolation is a gift. The Lord did not send this virus but He is certainly using it for His glory and our good. It is giving us the time we need to get our houses in order. We should view this time of isolation as a beautiful time of reflection, asking Him…”Lord what needs to be cleared out of my life?”
Today is day 5 of our “14 Days of Prayer”. Ashley Schuell will be leading.
